THANK YOU - CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL 2013
On behalf of the Firehouse Art Center Board of Directors, I would like to thank the Chocolate Festival Co-chairs, Stacy Zemke and Brook Beavers for their continued excellent planning and organization of the event. We are indebted to Dawnita Montgomery, Banquet Manager, and the fine staff at the National Center for Employee Development (NCED) who ensured a successful second year with them for the event. We would also like to congratulate the 2013 winners of the “Best Sample” awards and thank all our participating vendors for donating their most tempting treats in support of the Firehouse and its educational programs. We appreciate the many sponsors who provided additional monetary support, the dedicated staff of the Firehouse and our many volunteers for their hard work in support of the Firehouse mission.

About Chocolate Festival
The Chocolate Festival is the Firehouse Art Center's only annual fundraiser and membership drive. During the event, vendors will offer thousands of samples of delectable chocolate-inspired delights for those who wish to purchase tickets, the proceeds of which will support Firehouse Art Center art education programs. While the Chocolate Festival is the FAC’s only annual fundraiser, it is the hope of the organization that the event will not only raise funds, but also awareness of the visual arts and arts education in the Norman community through the inclusion of the free art activities that take place during the event.
The Firehouse Art Center’s Chocolate Festival was voted “Best Food Festival” in the 2011 and 2012 Readers’ Choice Awards from The Norman Transcript; received “the Best of the Best 2011” as Best Charity Event from Oklahoma Magazine; and won the 2009 Frontier Country Grand Award for Outstanding Food Festival in Central Oklahoma. It has been ranked third among food festivals in the U.S. by TV’s Food Network and has been featured in Southern Living and Bon Appetite magazines.

Chocolate Festival Arts Day
The Chocolate Festival will provide free children's activities that promote art education. All children are encouraged to participate in these free events; paid admission to the Chocolate Festival is not necessary. Firehouse faculty and University of Oklahoma Fine Art students will assist children with their work. Firehouse instructors will be on hand to demonstrate and discuss the children's and adult art education programs at the Firehouse Art Center and their educational efforts at local schools.
Among the on-site children's art activities will be the opportunity to design their unique vision for the Firehouse "Creative Cube Project." For this project, children will be able to submit photos of their cubes to the Firehosue Art Center's Facebook page where the public will be able to vote for their favorites. The most popular "cubes" from each division will be eligible for a free art class and Chocolate Festival tickets for 2013.
