All of the answers, right here for you.
Age Ranges and Class Prerequisites FAQs
-
The Firehouse offers classes for toddlers, children, teens, and adults.
-
There are no prerequisites for classes here at Firehouse. Intermediate and advanced classes are available for those with more experience or for those wanting to challenge themselves.
-
Each class is marked by level in its description: beginning classes cover fundamentals of medium and materials, intermediate build on technique and personal voice, next level classes push experimentation, self-directed work, and deeper critique from instructors. Our faculty can help you find the class level that’s right for you.
-
Our youngest artists start in “Fire Tots,” our program for 2-4 year olds. This mommy-and-me style class meets once a week; check the enrollment page for information.
Materials and Supply Lists FAQs
-
Some classes include materials in tuition, while others may list a supply fee or require students to supply certain items. Supply lists will be posted with each class. Students should review the class description for details.
-
Supply lists are available on the Class Resources page. They may also be sent in an email after registration. It is recommended to obtain materials before the first class meeting unless otherwise noted.
-
Many instructors can help you locate similar materials, or you may borrow or purchase recommended items locally. Please contact the Firehouse office if you need assistance sourcing supplies.
-
Yes—some classes include a non-refundable materials fee. As per our registration policies, these material fees are not eligible for refund even if you drop the class less than one week before the start of class.
Registration and Enrollment Info FAQs
-
To register for a class, navigate to the “Classes” page under the “Education” tab, select the desired class, then register through the online enrollment portal. Payment is due at the time of registration to finalize your enrollment.
-
General enrollment dates are posted for each semester on the website.
-
A wait list for full classes is maintained on a first-come, first-served basis. If space becomes available, students on the wait list will be contacted in order of reservation.
-
Membership is not required to enroll in classes; however, members receive benefits such as discounts on tuition and gift shop purchases. Patron-level members also receive early enrollment access.
-
After payment and enrollment, you will receive confirmation via email. The confirmation will include class details such as meeting time, studio location, and instructor. Ensure your email is correct in your enrollment form.
Refund and Cancellation Policies FAQs
-
If you request cancellation at least one week prior to the start of the semester, you may receive a full refund minus an administrative fee. Student cancellations less than one week prior are not eligible for refund.
-
Material fees are refunded if a student drops a class at least one week before start day or if Firehouse cancels a course due to low enrollment.
-
If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment or other reasons, you will receive a full refund. Students are notified 5–7 days before the start of the semester if cancellation occurs.
-
Transfers are only permitted when cancellation is made at least one week prior to the start of class; no transfers or partial refunds are allowed for cancellations less than one week before the semester begins. The Firehouse cannot transfer enrollments between semesters.
-
The Firehouse does not provide make-ups or refunds for student absences, illness, or planned travel since instructors are contracted by class and studio time is scheduled accordingly. If a class is cancelled by the Firehouse due to weather or instructor illness, a make-up class will be added to the end of the semester.
Safety, COVID and Studio Policies
-
Studios are sanitized regularly. The Firehouse follows recommended state and local health guidelines.
-
Students should arrive no more than 10 minutes before class and will remain only during the scheduled session. Parents should arrange to pick up children within ten minutes after class ends unless alternate arrangements are approved.
-
Generally no; only enrolled participants are permitted in the classroom during class time unless special permission is given. This allows a focused and uninterrupted learning environment.
-
The Firehouse follows the closure schedule of the University of Oklahoma. If the university is closed due to weather, classes are cancelled and students are notified via website, phone, email, or social media.
