Art is for Everyone

At the Firehouse Art Center, we believe that art is for everyone and that meaningful creative learning should be accessible at every age and stage. From our youngest makers in Fire Tots to our vast adult programs, each class meets students where they are.

  • We offer a wide range of classes for our audience. Our curriculum helps learners build a strong creative foundation while developing technical skills and exploring their own imagination in a supportive studio environment.

We’re equally committed to fostering a sense of community through the arts. Through our partnerships, outreach, and accessibility programs like Art Forces, Healing Studio, Equality Club, 12th Ave Mini Art Sessions, and more, our programming serves a variety of individuals at no cost to participants. Together, these programs reflect our broader mission: to ensure that art education at the Firehouse strengthens both individual growth and the creative fabric of our community.

No matter who you are or where you are in your artistic journey, there is a place for you at the Firehouse.

Explore Creative Mediums

There are endless ways to explore your creativity, and at the Firehouse, you can do it in nearly any medium imaginable. Pursue your calling in traditional studio arts like ceramics, printmaking, and painting. Try your hand at artisanal mediums like jewelry-making, fiber, and kiln-formed glass. Over the course of a 4-week or 8-week class, and under the guidance of professional instructors, you’ll learn how to let your ideas take shape.

Join a Workshop

Workshops offer opportunities for individuals to dip their toes into new media or give experienced artists an opportunity to dive deeper into a skill. Workshops are short-form classes taught by a wide range of guest instructors, from international artists to educators with specialized expertise, across a variety of media. At the Firehouse, workshops provide dynamic opportunities to experiment, engage, and expand your creative voice. All materials are provided for workshops, offering the perfect opportunity to try something new.

Gallery Exhibits and Art Events

The Firehouse’s gallery is a vital part of our mission, bringing artists and community members together through thoughtfully curated exhibitions and public events. Each year, the Firehouse Gallery hosts a rotating schedule of shows, typically six per year. Exhibitions are always free and open to the public, featuring educational opportunities for artists of any age to make art with spontaneity at the Firehouse.

Beyond exhibitions, the Firehouse Arts Center extends our role as a cultural hub through artist receptions, community events, and outreach programs which are always family-friendly. These gatherings create opportunities for dialogue, inspiration, and celebration while highlighting the depth and diversity of artistic talent in Oklahoma. Through our gallery spaces and events, the Firehouse strengthens Norman’s creative identity, supports local artists, and provides the community with enriching, year-round access to visual art.
