Our Reach

Art Sparks connects with all 16 Norman Public Schools primary campuses, ensuring every young artist in Norman has the chance to explore creativity through art.

A partnership between Firehouse Art Center and Norman Public Schools, Art Sparks is a school outreach program committed to providing visual art education to Norman's elementary-aged students. Students build a knowledge of the elements and principles of art and design, visual language, and cultural literacy through a rotating curriculum, inspired by the current exhibition in our main gallery. Art Sparks participants experience classroom visits with a Firehouse Art Educator, as well as field trips to FAC, where they will tour our most recent exhibit, our public art gardens, and complete an art project in the Children’s Studio.

Art Sparks would not be possible without the generous support of the Katherine Wells Macmillan Foundation and the McCasland Foundation. Their commitment to arts education helps ensure that every Norman Public Schools primary student has the opportunity to explore creativity, develop new skills, and experience the joy of artistic discovery.

Presented in partnership with Norman Public Schools, the Firehouse Art Center’s Art Sparks program brings creative visual education directly to Norman’s primary students. With generous support from the Katherine Wells Macmillan Foundation and the McCasland Foundation, we’re able to inspire creativity and cultural understanding in the classroom and beyond—connecting students to our exhibitions, public art gardens, and hands-on projects at the Firehouse. We’re grateful to Norman Public Schools and our foundation partners for helping us nurture the next generation of artists and creative thinkers.
