Cara Peters has been involved in costuming and cosplay since 2008. She joined Jedi OKC in 2009 and began building her Star Wars cosplay collection. Cara has attended Sooner Con as a panelist since 2011, has won numerous first place awards and Best in Show in the cosplay contest. Cara learned to sew at 13 from her grandmother and now has an extensive collection of 65 costumes encompassing many fandoms and genre. How did you get into cosplay?
I hava always loved costumes, I ran into Jedi OKC at the Ghouls Gone wild Parade in 2008 and that led to my involvement.
What inspires you to cosplay a character?
If I love a character and find the costume appealing.
What advice would you give to someone new to cosplay or wanting to get into it?
Don't get obsessed with screen accuracy and perfection. Make a costume that works for you; there is nothing wrong with "good enough."
What do you do with old cosplay?
Sell, give away, repurpose, and with a few favorites, keep for the memories.
Whats your favorite cosplay memory? Favorite con?
My favorite memory is always attending the Halloween event at Spencer Integris Children’s Mental Health facility with Jedi OKC. Sooner Con is my favorite convention.
What are you most excited about in Making Legends:Cosplay Culture?
Seeing the great work others have done.
