Q&A
How did you get into cosplay?
I’ve always loved an excuse to dress up, and I've also been fascinated with costume design and historical dress. I encountered some cosplay photos from San Diego Comic Con online and realized I didn’t have to wait until Halloween to dress up! The idea sounded like so much fun, so I tried it!
What inspires you to cosplay a character?
Usually, a character I connect with or love the costume design for. Arwen isn’t a character I particularly connect with, but she has some of the greatest costume designs in all of cinema, in my opinion.
What advice would you give to someone new to cosplay or wanting to get into it?
Just go for it! Try not to care what other people will think, inside and outside of the nerd community. Everyone starts small in cosplay, and I started by purchasing costumes. However you cosplay, it is valid as long as you are enjoying yourself and the process.
Who are your inspirations for cosplays? Makers, cosplayers, artist?
Sandy Powell and Colleen Atwood are such legendary costume designers; they are such an inspiration to me. I also look up to Rachel Maksy and Asta Darling, who are content creators.
What do you do with old cosplay?
I’ve sold most of them on the secondhand market! I keep the ones with particular sentimental value, even if I don’t wear them again.
Whats your favorite cosplay memory? Favorite con?
Honestly, anytime someone has asked me for a photo at a convention. It makes you feel like all your hard work is appreciated.
What are you most excited about in Making Legends:Cosplay Culture?
Showing my creations and inspiring more people to cosplay!
