June Frantz Hunt
About
My name is June Frantz Hunt, a photographer located in Norman. I am passionate about photographing pets either in my studio or around Norman. Having been a professional photographer for over 40 years, my journey began in film at Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. I am constantly enrolled in courses to further my knowledge and skills and participate in “hands on workshops” nationwide when they are available.
My passion has always been animal photography. The joy on a face that a bright fun photo of a pet, a mirror photo, a photo with Santa, or a fine art heirloom photo brings an owner is priceless. I am a firm believer in giving back to my community and have collaborated with Pawtopia: Your Pets Nutritionist pet store to host yearly fundraisers for animal rescues in the metro area. I am currently working on permanent installations of pet photos at all 3 metro Pawtopia stores.
In 2025 I will start the “Gray Muzzle Project.” In an effort to honor our senior dogs, rather than waiting for them to be weak and weary, I propose photographing them to cherish their memory as the vibrant dogs that they are. The faces, expressions, and antics that are well-loved are priceless.
How did you start pet portraits?
My Labrador Retrievers and their antics while hiking, swimming, and playing plus are so photogenic. My friends encouraged me to photograph their pets, and with my background in portrait photography and love of dogs it seemed to be a perfect path to follow.
What's your favorite animal to paint/sculpt/photograph etc?
Dogs!
