The Firehouse Art Center is honored to welcome internationally recognized Peruvian photographer Peruska Chambi, granddaughter and biographer of legendary Peruvian photographer Martín Chambi, for the exhibition Exploring Life and Death in the Andes, on view September 17 through November 2, 2025. This striking body of work captures the cultural traditions of Día de Difuntos in the Andes, offering the community an intimate look into photography that documents aspects of life and death few visitors to the region ever experience.
Please join us from 5:30 PM to 8 PM, Wednesday, September 17 | to celebrate the exhibition and meet the artist. Free and open to the public. Authentic Peruvian cuisine will be provided by Patty’s Kitchen.

Join us on July 9, 2024 from 6PM–8PM at Firehouse Art Center, for an ASK Workshop led by comic book artist, illustrator and art director, Jerry Bennett. Experience a deep dive into how comics and graphic novels are promoted, marketed and published once they are made. Whether you’re creating short zines or dreaming up a full-length graphic novel, this workshop will touch on portfolio tips, publishing options, and how to get your work into readers’ hands. It’s a chance to learn directly from someone who’s been through it and still loves the process.
Enjoy light refreshments and learn from author and historian Jeff Provine as he takes us through a century of comic history, from Action and Archie to Arigon!

These carefully collected issues have captured our imagination, becoming our most cherished Limited Edition comics.
Assistance League Norman, along with Historic Campus Corner and Firehouse Art Center, are happy to collaborate to bring May Fair Arts festival 2025. This annual event has grown from a county fair to a multi-day arts festival with children's entertainment including rides and art activities, a 5K race and an entertainment stage with live, local musical acts and organizations.
The fair began in large part to give local artists and crafters a place to show their work long before Norman had an arts council or an art-focused downtown. Since then, the fair has extended to other community needs. Apply to be a part of May fair, application due April 19th!

The Firehouse Art Center, Norman Arts Council , Norman Parks and Recreation, and OU School of Visual Arts have partnered to create a dynamic sculpture garden in Lions Park, showcasing the talents of emerging artists. BFA students in the School of Visual Arts are invited to propose public art pieces for this unique project. The chosen sculptures are then fabricated by the students and displayed in Lions Park from late April through the following spring, offering the public an opportunity to experience contemporary art in an outdoor setting.
ArtPrize is an international art competition and cultural festival held over sixteen days in Grand Rapids, Michigan — a celebration of ideas, conversation, experimentation, and inclusiveness.
We invite Oklahoma artists to apply for your chance to represent the state of Oklahoma in this international art competition. The winner will recevie a travel grand to get their idea to ArtPrize. Application due April 11th, 2025.

Pawliday in the Park is a Firehouse Family Fun Day featuring local artists, pet vendors, and art activities. Our friends at Norman Animal Welfare will be out with their adoptable dogs as well as with pet education opportunities.
Seeking: Local artists, makers, and creatives that make their own products. Pet vendors who specialize in a service offered to pet. No direct sales, MLMs, etc.
Vendors must submit a completed digital application by April 4th at midnight. Vendors will be informed of their acceptance status by April 7th.

Paw Prints & Portraits is an exhibition celebrating our furry friends and the artists who make their living from their portraiture. Illustrations, painting, and sculptures made with love, and a touch of fur, decorate our homes and our hearts. Every perfectly wispy whisker, spectacular spots, or twitchy tails captured by an artist speaks volumes to the love we share for man's best friends.

A Poorly Drawn Pet Portraits station, where you can get a hand drawn portrait of your pet in ten minutes. There will also be an Embroidered bandana station where you can get your pets name embroidered on one of our themed bandanas.
We would love to invite you to join us Friday, December 13th at 10 am for the ribbon cutting and grand opening of our Kirkpatrick Pottery Patio. In March of 2023, we rekindled the Firehouse Ceramics Program, and now have a thriving pottery studio. Together, with the support of the Kirkpatrick Family Fund, the City of Norman Parks and Recreation Department, numerous donors, private foundations, and grants we have developed our old kiln yard into an active, engaging space for the community.

The Firehouse Chili Bowl is a fundraiser and a contest among the faculty, staff and board of the Firehouse Art Center. Your support of this event enables us to continue to be a leader in the visual arts in Norman and surrounding areas, providing creative visual arts education, experiences, and exhibitions for individuals of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
Tickets are on sale now; you will have the option to get the VIP or General Admission. The VIP tickets allow you to enter an hour before anyone else, starting your event at 5PM. You will also have first pick of artisan made chili bowls from Sage Eden and Katherine Gaff, and meet the artists.
General Admission will start at 6PM.

"Enmascarado: Luchadores in Cinema" was a captivating exhibition that honors the legacy of El Santo while celebrating the vibrant cultural heritage of Mexico and its impact on global popular culture. The exhibition ran from September 12 through November 2, 2024.

The Firehouse's Children's Summer Art Program (CSAP) provides art education camps for children ages 5-14 throughout the summer months. During these camps, students learn about a variety of mediums such as painting, drawing, ceramics, collage, and mixed media. At the end of the summer, the Children's Summer Art Show presents one work by each student who participated in these art camps. This is a unique opportunity for students to see their artwork displayed in a professional studio space, and for the community to celebrate the students' artistic efforts.

The Firehouse Art Center, in partnership with SOONERCON, is proud to display the work of cosplayers in Making Legends: Cosplay Culture, opening Friday, May 17th, 2024. A collaborative exhibition featuring ten artists from across the country, Making Legends celebrates over a thousand hours of individual artistry to capture the legends we love.
Making Legends: Cosplay Culture celebrates the artist within us all. From a galaxy far far away to a comfortable hole in the ground, the art of cosplay brings characters from media and pop culture to life through hand-made costumes and props. Cosplayers are rarely professional costume designers; they are accountants, parents, and teachers whose passion for creation inspires them to celebrate the books, movies, and video games we all know and love. They become an elven princess, a foul-tempered monarch, or a soldier of the empire. Cosplayers push the boundaries of their own creativity to go where no one has gone before!
Join us Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 5:00-8:00PM at the Firehouse Art Center for a night of beer tasting featuring Oklahoma breweries. Tickets include beer tasting and curated food pairings. Lisa McIlory, owner, president, and art director of Cabin Boys Brewery, will lead a discussion on craft beer creation, label design, and brewery identity with other artist and brewers from the Oklahoma Brewers Association. Doors open at 5PM, and the panel will begin at 6:30PM.
On display from February 16th - April 30th, Brewing Design is a collaborative exhibition between the Firehouse Art Center and the Oklahoma Craft Brewers Association, co-curated by Lisa McIlroy.
This exhibition celebrated artists represented within the Oklahoma Craft Brewer’s Association and their artistic contributions found on can and bottle labels. The exhibition will highlight design and creative marketing from our local craft breweries.
Oklahoma Craft Brewers Association works to strengthen and unify the Oklahoma brewing industry, which in turn provides design opportunities for artists.
The Firehouse Art Center and Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute are proud to offer this free portfolio review day. Open to all teens (13-18) from Norman and surrounding areas. Students are to bring their completed portfolios for review from our faculty.

The Firehouse Art Center is partnering with Oklahoma Arts Institute to host this free informational session on the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute, for students aged 13-18 in Norman and surrounding areas. We will focus on Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute’s Drawing & Painting application process with OAI President and CEO Rob Ward. Pizza will be provided to students and teachers in attendance.
The Firehouse’s annual holiday boutique, Holiday Gift Gallery, highlights regional artists by showcasing their work for sale to the public.
